Verlane Home started with a simple complaint we kept running into ourselves: so much home decor looks great in a photo and falls apart the second it's sitting on your own shelf. Good lighting and the right angle can make almost anything look expensive online. We wanted a shop where the pieces still hold up once they're actually in your house, next to the things you already own and the light you actually have.
Our approach comes down to a few basic rules we don't bend on. We look for real materials over anything dressed up to look like them, solid wood instead of veneer, brass that's actually finished by hand instead of stamped and coated, ceramics with a little variation piece to piece because a person made them and not a machine. We would rather offer fewer things that last than fill the site with everything under the sun. If something wouldn't earn a spot in our own homes, it doesn't earn one here.
We're not trying to keep up with whatever's trending this month. Trends move fast, and most of what gets built for them doesn't age well, not in your home and not anywhere else. What we're actually after is a house that looks like it came together over time, with pieces that mean something and materials that get better with age instead of falling apart.
